The Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed the Artemis Accords on October 28, 2026, becoming the 78th nation to join the framework. NASA News, NASA, Mirage News, and Vietnam.vn all reported the accession. NASA News noted that NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson delivered recorded remarks during the signing ceremony. [1][8][9][10]

According to NASA News, Anderson stated that Vietnam is joining the framework during an important stage of its own space program development. He highlighted that NASA and the Vietnam National Space Center have already built momentum in Earth observation radar, satellite innovation, and land-use research. [1]

The Artemis Accords are a series of bilateral agreements that establish non-binding principles for outer space exploration and development. Wikipedia states that the United States led the creation of the accords to support the Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon and later expand space exploration efforts to Mars.
