NASA Appoints Stephen Cash Director of Marshall Space Flight Center

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman has named Stephen Cash as the new director of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, NASA News reported. His appointment will become effective on Monday, October 19. Local outlets rocketcitynow.com and WAFF also reported the leadership appointment, with WAFF referring to him as Steve Cash. [1][5][6]

According to NASA News, Cash is a veteran engineer and aerospace executive who started his career at the Alabama center more than four decades ago. Isaacman noted that the facility serves as the agency's center of excellence for propulsion. [1]

The Marshall Space Flight Center is located on the Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville, Alabama, and is named in honor of General of the Army George C. Marshall. It is the largest NASA center and functions as the civilian rocketry and spacecraft propulsion research facility for the United States government. [7]

Historically, the center developed the Saturn launch vehicles for the Apollo program. The facility has also led work on the Space Shuttle main propulsion and external tank, International Space Station design and assembly, and the Space Launch System. [7]
