Cowboy Space Unveils Big Iron Rocket for Planned 2028 Debut

Cowboy Space has announced its Big Iron rocket design, targeting a maiden flight in 2028 to orbit up to 20,000 artificial intelligence data centers.

Via Satellite and Mezha.net reported that Cowboy Space has named its new rocket design Big Iron. Via Satellite reported that the commercial space venture is targeting a debut launch in 2028. Space and UA.NEWS both reported that the vehicle is designed to deploy a network of 20,000 artificial intelligence data centers into orbit. [1][2][5][7][8]

According to BigGo Finance, the upper stage of the Big Iron rocket will serve directly as a space data center. The hardware will be equipped with NVIDIA Vera Rubin chips to perform artificial intelligence operations in orbit. [6]

Marty Robbins wrote and performed the original Western ballad Big Iron on his 1959 album Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs. The single achieved commercial success when Columbia Records released it in early 1960. Members of the Western Writers of America later ranked the song 11th on their list of all time best Western tracks. [10][12]

The year 2028 will be a leap year starting on a Saturday in the Gregorian calendar. Tech Insider reported that the full deployment plan for the Cowboy Space satellite constellation calls for 20,000 units. [2][11]
