Blue Origin is working to rebuild Launch Complex-36 in Florida to support a return to flight for its New Glenn rocket before the end of 2026, NASASpaceFlight reported on October 11. The effort comes four months after a New Glenn rocket exploded on the launch pad. Blue Origin continues to show quick progress as it aims to resume launches within the next three months. [1]
The pad reconstruction shows visually apparent changes, according to NASASpaceFlight. The original launch pad featured two major structures, consisting of a support tower and a lightning tower. The explosion toppled the lightning tower and bent structural beams on the support tower, causing structural damage. Reconstruction work on the Florida facility is currently approaching the halfway mark. [1]
Alongside its launch pad repairs, Blue Origin announced plans on October 8 to build Constellation Park, SatNews reported. The project is a 550 million dollar, 120,000-square-meter satellite manufacturing complex located in central Texas. SatNews added that company founder Jeff Bezos confirmed on October 7 that Blue Origin opened to outside equity investors through a 10 billion dollar funding round. [2]
Blue Origin is an American aerospace manufacturer alongside competitors such as SpaceX, which operates launch vehicles including Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and Starship. The ongoing facility rebuilds and industrial expansions aim to restore uncrewed and crewed launch infrastructure while supporting high-capacity space projects across the company. [1][2][3]
